When it comes to decorating for Christmas, you may have everything you need for your Christmas tree, mantel décor, and even outdoor lighting. An easy yet simple way to decorate the outdoors of your home is to decorate your front porch. Sometimes, this area gets overlooked, or you may decide to put up some lights and call it a day.
Since your front porch is the first thing guests see when they come and visit, you want it to make a statement. In this blog, we have five ideas that will help make your front porch more festive.
- Wooden Sleds
If you want to think outside the box and go for décor that’s a little different from your neighbours, think antiques. Find some antiques that would be suitable to use for porch décor. One of these items can be a wooden sled that you may have hanging around. If not, check out your local antique or thrift store.
Learn it up against the side of your home and it will look like effortless holiday décor that isn’t your traditional decoration.
- Cozy it Up
Nothing says the holidays better than a warm and inviting spot. You don’t have to limit this to the inside of your home. You can also cozy up your front porch. Think textures. Use throw blankets, throw pillows, and even festive scarves. Drape these on chairs you already have outside to create a warm, cozy, and inviting spot for your guests throughout the holiday season.
- Rustic Signs
There are so many different local makers out there that create beautiful signs made from wood. These signs come in all kinds of shapes and sizes with different wording. Even if you picked one up that simply said “welcome” you could have them add a festive element like drawing on a wreath or attaching a bow and then leaning it against your porch.
Since these are customizable, there’s sure to be something for everyone’s style and every season.
- Natural Greenery
Another simple and cost-effective way to spruce up your front porch for the holidays is to incorporate lots of natural greenery. There are many ways you can do this. Place a wreath made of greenery on your front door with a festive ribbon and grab some pots, place them on either side of your door and fill them with greenery.
Another way to do this is to use garlands that are made of greenery and drape them around your railings.
If you have pine trees in front of your house, you may want to work with what you have and decorate them with some lights you may already have kicking around.
- Christmas Trees
Speaking of decorating the trees in your front yard, you can also put Christmas trees up on your front porch. These may be real trees that you recently purchased, or you may have some fake trees that you can use. This will complement the tree you have inside and will be there to greet any guests who may come over during the holidays.
You can even go one step further and even place fake presents under the tree!
We hope some of these ideas have inspired you to create a festive front porch.
